Annotations for Exogenesis Symphony Pt 2 Crosspollination

Lyric: Rise above the crowds
Annotation:
An amounting scope of influence derives a differentiable voice on the journey to salvation. The imagery connotes this, whereby the rising individual is salient to the masses due to their increasing height (power) causing people to ‘lookup’ to their position/views.

Lyric: Breach the outer sphere
Annotation:
This line refers literally to the exosphere, i.e. the outermost layer of the atmosphere, but could also allude to the cover art of The Resistance, where two spheres are surrounding Earth.

Lyric: Tell us, tell us your final wish
Now we know you can never return
Tell us, tell us your final wish
We will tell it to the world
Annotation:
The spaceship has taken off and the narrator is saying to the astronauts that they can never return to the person they once ware because they will have gone to space, so the narrator is asking what the astronauts' final wish is before they leave and become more than an average human. This final wish will be made public and possibly be fulfilled to honor the astronauts, who are themselves fulfilling humanity’s final wish to continue the species somewhere else, and are humanity’s last hope.

Lyric: It’s up to you
Annotation:
Literally: Matt is telling you to go to find a new planet to start our civilization over. Figuratively: Matt is reminding us that all future life on earth depends on how we treat it today. The whole idea of Exogenesis is about leaving Earth and finding a new home planet.

Lyric: The edge of all our fears
Annotation:
The edge of all our fears is leaving our home, earth, and enter the great unknown.

Lyric: And wade through toxic clouds
Annotation:
The symphony is about humans leaving a destroyed earth from war and as stated in the above line, pollution.

Lyric: Spread our codes to the stars
 You must rescue us all
Annotation:
These people are selected to save the human race by populating another planet. The word “codes” suggests our genetic codes, our DNA: this is what the concept of exogenesis is about. It could also mean that if the remaining people disperse data about their history and culture into the void of space, a future generation may find it and learn from their mistakes.
